1.
HOUSES OF THE SUN The prince of ice sleeps streamed with bells Through the departing village Butterfat goose girls All birds and beasts Carry him through covers after dark To their houses of the sun Black priests in green chapels Paint stained and silent Poisoning the apple In a children's poem Congregate like chambers in a gun In their houses of the sun Trying to crawl into the light There's no rain it's over The dying slip into the night There's no pain it's over Through the middle passage Drugged, white and frozen Underneath the flashes Seas are overflowing Seraphim wave the water on From their houses of the sun
2.
Cold Waves 02:55
COLD WAVES Sometimes when I sleep I feel like my mother's dream Frozen in a stream Flowing out to sea Cold waves Cold waves and ice Long way Long way from light Imitated green Stripes across the floor I see it through a screen Before I learn to crawl Cold waves Cold waves and ice Long way Long way from light
3.
The Boat 03:39
THE BOAT Idle sky The distant lights are stretching out across the bay I don't remember how we came this way? We made it back, we made it back but we're on a boat There's no direction, there's no direction Hail, it's letting in water and hail The sun in my eyes Inside the boat they fear the coming of the day They're throwing coins into an open grate They're pulling down, they're pulling down, all the tapestries The men have spoken, the men have spoken Hail, it's letting in water and hail We made it back, we made it back but we're on a boat There's no direction, there's no direction Hail, it's letting in water and hail
4.
SWITCHING OFF THE PERFUME GARDEN A mistake was made last night Switching off the perfume garden All the pink, all the pink lights Are vanishing All the kids with their fake hearts Lying down by the gloomy river Where the lightening is frozen In a horse's eye Well the mistakes, they were all mine I left the leaves in the frozen harbour Well the mistakes, they were all mine And it never ends Darling, I fear That we're living in King Lear And the roots are dying
5.
Drake 03:58
DRAKE Think about this and listen Think about what is and isn't They want to see you fall in They want to see you fall in Lying in a bed of roses Lying in a bed of roses They want to send you flowers They want to send you flowers They want to drag you under I want to pull you up again They want to have all the power They want to see you suffer They want to see your suffering They want to see your suffering Ghost in abandoned light shot Ghost in abandoned light shot I'm at the head of the table I'm at the head of the table I want to drag you under They want to pull you up again They want to have all the power They want to send you flowers
6.
Horseback 04:28
HORSEBACK Horseback into the dark of the pen I'm living in a doll's house again I've dreamt about that jump a hundred times What doesn't break your fall will break your mind I have no memory of you All nuts and tired After what we went through I have no memory of you Horseback into the dark of the bed Someone's turning a car up ahead I'll ride until the rhythm makes me sore And I can't feel the reins anymore I have this picture of you Jump in the weir That is what you should do I have this picture of you Riding Riding Keep Riding I have this picture of you Riding through a band of trees
7.
OUTWARD TRAVEL MUST NOT BE IN THE PAST Somewhere in your eyes I can feel myself moving I'm coming back in disguise I'm coming back wasted Slow trains that move like they're fast Outward travel must not be in the past Waking up like a fool My right hand is bleeding I see a crack in the door It's just a crack - but that's not nothing Filling with water and skin Forgive me my daughter I cannot go in
8.
White Bear 04:11
WHITE BEAR I drift for many hours A monarch of the air I'll cross the street from this one I know she's scared I see myself in sunset I dance off ‘cross the lake I'm trying to make it through your eyes Into the grey I know what you are White bear I fell asleep inside a trench coat And I woke up full of meat This whole town's full of mouths That no-one feeds I don't want you here White bear Now I see You are taller than lampshade She is standing in the palisade I drift for many hours A monarch of the air I'll cross the street from this one There's no-one there I know what you are White bear
9.
SIMON'S BEACH They want to take my mouth away and leave me wide open Rain falling on my back All the fish in the water Have body dysmorphia I have a feeling that it's getting dark on the rivers Simon, to pass the time, is skimming stones on the ocean Ships singing through the fog This is the end of the journey Like Christ in his thirties I have a feeling that it's getting darker everyday Diving beneath my rocks to find the pearl in the oyster Fishermen wading out Dragging their nets through the water Singing songs for the orcas I have a feeling that it's getting darker everyday
10.
Tide 04:55
TIDE Maybe when the tide comes in Maybe when the tide comes in The babies will learn to swim Sinking through a hole again Sinking through a hole again Somewhere the light won't bend Maybe when the tide comes in Maybe when the tide comes in In arms In babies arms, in babies arms, in babies arms In babies Black paper slides Maybe when the tide comes in Maybe when the tide comes in The babies will learn to swim Sinking through a hole again Singing through a hole again In arms In babies arms, in babies arms, in babies arms In babies Black paper slides

about

"The Blood Choir is a unique amalgam of elements: arena rock, Norwegian style ambience, noise-pop, metal, and emotive singer-songwriter ..." The band, consisting of Robin Maddicott and Joe Mountain, are originally from Bristol, but are now based between the South West of England & Northern Denmark.

In 2009 they began recording material for what would become the Dartmoor EP. Whilst never officially released, the EP flourished widely in music circles and brought critical attention to the band.

In 2012 The Blood Choir released their debut album No Windows to the Old World on IRL, an independent record label that had released albums by Tinariwen and Justin Adams. The album was co-produced by Tim Oliver (Robert Plant, New Order) and was simultaneously released through his own label Top Cat Music.

That year the band toured the UK with Arbouretum and opened for Silver Apples, The Handsome Family, Dylan Carlson and The Magic Band.

The Blood Choir returned to the studio in early 2013 with producers Tom Dalgety (Pixies, Opeth) & Jon Walker (Arcane Roots) to begin work on the follow up to No Windows to the Old World. Their second album, Houses of the Sun, was released on June 22nd 2018.
